We are once again coming at you with the Top Ten Best Dressed Female Celebrities of the Week. What with the Met Gala, movie premieres and award shows happening everywhere, this was truly a week that was kind to fashion.
And we love it when that happens! From glittering gowns to flirty frocks, these ladies really know how to work an outfit. After all, our job here is to promote fashion, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
Why won’t we get started?
Number Ten: Kerry Washington
Washington was seen at the Bronx Children’s Museum Gala, wearing a very interesting gown. And considering this event was at a children’s museum, we have to say it looks really fun. It is a spaghetti strap floor length gown that boasts dramatic black and white stripes, and on her feet are pointy high heeled shoes. It’s a look fit for a children’s museum, and deserves a spot in the world of fashion.
Number Nine: Samira Wiley
Wiley was spotted at the Hulu Upfront Brunch in, wearing a flirty yet casual get up. It’s a dark blue strapless dress that comes just below her knees. Floral patterns seemed to be her choice when selecting this outfit, because it decorated with beautiful white and blue flowers that cascade all around dress. On her feet, she I wearing matching blue high heeled shoes. And since we’re getting into the season of summer, we’d call this outfit very summer friendly.
Number Eight: Erin Holland
Holland attended the Bodyguard Premiere, in a very flirty and sexy flapper inspired style dress. It was a sapphire blue in color, the hem stopping just before her knees. The dress also sported an elegant high collar, and long sleeves that were made out of a very intricate looking net like material. Decorating the sleeves, from her shoulders down to her wrists, were delicate blue tassels that can also be seen flowing around the dress like a waterfall.
Number Seven: Tasha Smith
Smith was spotted at the Wearable Arts Gala, and we have to say that what she is wearing is certainly art in our eyes. It is a tight mermaid style ensemble that clings to her hips with a flowing hem that fans out from her legs. The gown was an elegant off the shoulder look with long sleeves. The part we loved the most? The delicate lace embroidered with a solid black floral pattern, covering a white mini dress.
Number Six: Scarlett Johansson
Johansson was at the 100th Anniversary of Planned Parenthood Gala, and we are really enjoying the outfit she’s wearing. It is an elegant floor length gown. The top portion of the gown was made from a fishnet material that was covered in intricate floral patterns. Over that was a sky blue vest like layer that stopped a few inches below her breasts, revealing more of the fishnet material. A thick black belt encircled her waist, followed by a long skirt alternated between sky blue fabric and black lace. The hem of the gown boasted soft velvet. It’s a lovely look for Johansson, and we think these colors compliment her quite nicely.
Number Five: Kelly Kruger
Kruger was as at the 44th Daytime Emmy Awards, looking quite sophisticated. She is wearing a floor length gown that is certainly nothing short of stylish. The top portion is made entirely out of lace, decorated with a series tiny black dots ad flowers. The intricate design crawls all the way down to her waist, stopping at a long black skirt. It’s definitely something we would call classy, and more than deserves a spot on this list.
Number Four: Han Yae Ri
Han Yae Ri attended the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards wearing a gown that could probably pass for a wedding gown. Of course, we have no qualms about that (look at it this way: if you’re a bride to be, and you’re looking for something elegant but not too over the top, then might we suggest a dress like this?). The gown is a pinkish white with a mermaid style silhouette that cascade gracefully down the floor, and looks like it’s made out a very delicate material. The gown is also short sleeved, and made entirely out of silver lace, and tiny silver tassels can be seen around the neckline. Covering the entire dress is an ocean of intricate floral-like silver patterns. This just another perfect example of simple can truly be the most elegant of looks.
Number Three: Blake Lively
Lively attended the 2017 Met Gala, and that event is known for fashion. Any outfit you see can range from glamorous to crazy and creative.
We’d have to say this gown fits all of the above. It is a metallic gold in color, and hugs her figure quite nicely. The front of gown splits open to reveal a plunging neckline, and also boasts long see-through sleeves made out of delicate gold threads that loop repeatedly around her arms, like a series of gold bracelets. But if there’s anything else about this gown that catches our eye, it’s the hem. As you can see, it’s made entirely out of feathers, ranging from vibrant sky to sapphire blue. We said earlier that it was glamorous, crazy and creative and we stand by that statement.
Number Two: Ashley Graham
Another creatively glamorous gown seen at the 2017 Met Gala was worn by Ashley Graham, and this one is quite a number. It is a strapless form fitting gown with a white top, the neckline fanning out gracefully against her skin. The gown also boasts a vibrant fire engine red skirt that has a series of silver hooks against a long and thin patch of an even darker red. Extending from the top of her shoulder, all the way down to the bottom of the gown was a long thick ruffled ribbon that wrapped around the hem of the gown. A thick, dark red ribbon encircled her waist. It’s sexy and flawless, and although part of the gown Graham is wearing is white, we’re adding her to our list of women who look amazing in red.
And finally, the one you’ve all been waiting for (drum-roll please)!
Number One: Janelle Monae
Excuse us, we need to take a break to catch our breath with this one.
Just give us one minute.
Ok, we’re back.
Wow! What else to say about this gown, except wow! We can only imagine the time and dedication that was put in to bringing this masterpiece from the drawing board to the red carpet.
Monae was another celebrity seen at the 2017 Met Gala, wearing a gown designed by Ralph Russo. The gown boasts a high collar that covers her neck and is made entirely out of black feathers, creating a dramatic flair. Stretching out from the bottom of the collar are delicate and thin black feathers that lie against a sleeveless lace top that’s been layered over a light brown fabric, and a black ribbon encircles her waist. Below the black belt was a flowing ball own styled skirt that consisted entirely of white ruffles, resembling a blanket of thick snow. It’s one of the most amazing gowns we’ve seen, and more than deserves the number one spot on this list.
