HANDBAG DESIGNER 101 WINNERS FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL INDEPENDENT HANDBAG DESIGNER AWARDS

On August 15th  Handbag Designer 101 revealed the winners of the Thirteenth Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards (IHDA) at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in New York City. Hosted by Founder Emily Blumenthal, over 400 industry insiders, designers and celebrity supporters came out to celebrate the new and innovative in handbag design.

From a pool of almost 2,000 submissions collected globally, winners were named in the nine distinct categories. Brandon Blackwood of Brandon Blackwood New York secured top honors as the recipient of The Best Retail Bag Presented by Macy’s. The Harrian Best Student Winner was Alison Chang of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Florina Sirman of atribut from Romania took home the Coterie Best Handbag in Overall Style and Design. Fan Favorite was won by ​Jeffrey Wan of Jeff Wan whose Mauritian roots were a key part of his design..

ABOUT THE INDEPENDENT HANDBAG DESIGNER AWARDS: ​Founded in 2007, the Independent Handbag Designer Awards by Handbag Designer 101 was created to celebrate handbag design and creativity from the United States and around the world. Now in its thirteenth year, it is an industry staple and is the only international design competition to discover, recognize and create brand awareness for independent handbag designers.
