Style “rules” exist for a reason. They are built up around current trends that exist for an unspecified amount of time, mostly by celebrities, fashionista’s and the like. Many of these are guided by trends that have worked in the past. Many are modern touches to classic styles. They ensure that younger folks at least try to look their best.
Styles and societal priorities change so rapidly though. Things that worked in the past might not always work today. Here are some style rules that have generally been accepted over time but that no longer make all that much sense in modern day.
MATCH YOUR SOCKS WITH YOUR PANTS
Fun, funky print socks have been the trend for a couple years now. Socks have really evolved themselves from a boring necessity to a stylish accessory. Make them stand out and give you some personality!
ALWAYS WEAR SOCKS WITH PANTS
Hipsters have foregone this rule for a while now, and they look exceptionally fresh, modern and stylish rocking pants with no socks. The sockless summer look has been around so long now that it’s practically a staple in the spring issues of men’s fashion magazines.
ALWAYS MATCH YOUR BELT WITH YOUR SHOES
Unless you are attending a formal occasion, this rule is simply unnecessary. It suggests a level of exactness that’s too particular and fussy, even. In all honesty, it’s highly doubtful that anyone is paying such close attention to the color of your leathers, anyway.
DON’T WEAR WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY
Ohh please! In the 19th century, it was a way for old money to separate itself from the nouveau riche. Most people who follow this “rule” don’t even know that. It’s time to forget about it – white looks great whenever.
DON’T MIX PATTERNS
Your grandfather may cringe at this one. If you’re up for bringing a modern edge to your wardrobe, pattern mixing is a great technique to try. Doing it well takes some thought though. Start by choosing items in the same color family to make sure that your choices look harmonious.
Style and fashion are something everyone should care about. How someone carries themselves is almost noted by everyone Certain assumptions about someone’s personality is portrayed by the dressing and style. Fashion and style vary from time to time and place to place. It is entirely up to the person what they intend to follow, however, there are certain style rules that are sometimes annoying for some people because they have to adapt it because that fashion is accepted and practiced by everyone. This is the generation where we are more likely to break away from outdated rules and create our own unique and ever-changing trends confidently.
