Imagine someone who takes the initiative to organize fashion shows in new places in the Dominican Republic. This is Elcy Cortorreal and her designs radiate elegance. Even the music seemed to match this theme because the relatively slower song “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd was played during her show. In comparison, other designers had much faster and louder music by artists like Sia to ramp up the atmosphere in the room.

In many of the pieces, my mind jumps to princesses or brides. I admire the choice to have a more expansive lower portion in some designs and a narrower one in others.

The use of contrast is fantastic, especially between red and white. My eyes felt like they were receiving a massage and this feeling intensified when I saw how seamlessly the intricate patterns conformed to each model’s body. The patterns could easily deputize as tattoos.

The purple and heavily black combination remains my favorite piece. The pattern on the shoulder appears to tail off and impose a mobile quality. In fact, I’d have liked to see a few more pieces with this edgy and bold feeling which wouldn’t necessarily betray the elegant motif.

Still, I have to take my hat off and say that the use of wrist accessories and tiaras created an aura of power and prestige. Forgive me for I’m also simply buzzing from seeing Wonder Woman where Gal Gadot rocked similar accessories, albeit with different designs, of course.

In some cases, the way in which the fabric danced behind a model’s arms triggered images of Greek goddesses. The designs and the confidently walking models complemented one another to create this effect.
